(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 01, 2010 ) Dallas, Tx - Crude futures ended sharply lower Tuesday, adding to steep monthly losses, as plentiful inventories and concerns about an economic soft patch prompted investors to shift into gold and bonds.

Oil for October delivery ended down 3.7% at $71.92 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Tuesday, with declines accelerating in the late session.
Oil also finished the month of August with a loss, down 8.9%, its first monthly decline since May.
Earlier this month Crude touched $82 a barrel, but soon got derailed as key reports showed the bad times were far from over.
On the other hand prices of Copper closed despite lackluster data.
Natural-gas futures, wrapping up their worst month in more than two years, are entering the historically weak month of September dogged by confusion over production. Prices for the most active contract have fallen about 23% in August.
iShares Silver Trust (ETF) (NYSE:SLV) jumped 1.61% to $18.93 on high volume. iShares Silver Trust (the Trust) is a grantor trust. The purpose of the Trust is to own silver transferred to the Trust in exchange for shares issued by the Trust (iShares). Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (NYSE:FCX) rose 1.50% to $71.99. SO far this year, the stock has fallen over 11%.
