The company lowered the top end of its profit guidance for the full year. The agricultural products maker said earnings for the fiscal year ending Aug. 31 would be in the range of $2.40 to $2.45 a share, versus its prior forecast of $2.40 to $2.60 a share.


Analysts polled by FactSet Research were looking for earnings of $2.52 a share, on average.

3M Company (NYSE:MMM) dropped 1.38% to $78.55 on over 4.96 million shares. The company said Tuesday it will pay $230 million in cash to buy Tel Aviv-based Attenti Holdings S.A. from an investor group led by Francisco Partners. Attenti makes ankle bracelets for offender monitoring.


3M Company is a diversified technology company with a global presence in industrial and transportation; health care; consumer and office; safety, security and protection services; display and graphics, and electro and communications.


Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:DG) slid 0.26% to $27.31 on over 2.34 million shares. The company boosted its 2010 financial outlook and reported a 51% rise in second-quarter net profit to $141 million, or 41 cents a share.


Over the past 52-weeks, the stock traded within the range of $21.30-$31.41.


Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ:WINN) plunged 18.20% to $6.56 on over 3.77 million shares. The company reported fourth-quarter net income rose to 25 cents a share from 17 cents in the same period during fiscal 2009. Quarterly revenue edged up 1.8% to $1.75 billion, while same-store sales fell 5.2%


Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast earnings of 15 cents a share on revenue of $1.79 billion.
