(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 11, 2010 ) White Lake, MI – Since fall of 2008, Susan Downey and her neighbors on Lindholm Drive in White Lake have been pleading with the Oakland County Road Commission to repair damaged storm drains.

Since the storm drain became damaged, homeowners have experienced excessive flooding in their front yard and crawl space. “The ground is eroding away and the ditch in front of my home is getting deeper and wider,” said Downey. “The Oakland County Road Commission has made it clear that they will not fix it unless it causes a problem with the road. I’m hoping the ground will erode under the road, cause it to crumble, and prompt them to do something.”

Susan has been reaching out to the public, hoping someone will know who she needs to contact to resolve the problem. “I’ve spoke to the County Commissioner, Jim Runestad, but so far, he has not been successful in providing a solution. I think he tried, but his hands seem to be tied.”

Susan began searching the internet for a solution and came across a report from another resident who also had a complaint with the Oakland County Road Commission. “A senior citizen who had just paid for professional landscaping was heart-broken when she saw that the Oakland County Road Commission tore up her yard with the snow plow,” said Susan. “She just wanted them to repair the damage and they tried to blame the mail carrier!”
