ClassAction.org Offers Free Case Evaluation to Patients Diagnosed with Rhabdomyolysis After Taking Zocor 80mg

ClassAction.org is investigating Zocor rhabdomyolysis claims on behalf of patients who have been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis after taking Zocor 80mg, Vytorin 10/80, or Simvastatin.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 09, 2010 ) New York, NY - ClassAction.org is currently investigating claims on behalf of patients suffering from rhabdomyolysis, a serious Zocor side effect that has been linked to the 80mg dose of this cholesterol-lowering drug. In March 2010, the Food & Drug Administration released a warning that highlighted the risk of rhabdomyolysis in patients taking Zocor 80mg. Rhabdomyolysis is a medical condition that affects the muscles, and it can be life threatening in severe cases.

Zocor 80mg is the highest approved dose of Zocor, a drug manufactured by Merck. Zocor works to lower cholesterol by blocking the production of cholesterol in the body. However, the FDA has announced that Zocor 80mg can put patients at risk for rhabdomyolysis. In fact, the FDA reported that patients taking the 80mg dose of Zocor have a risk of developing rhabdomyolysis that is fifty times greater than those taking the 20mg dose of this drug. In addition, the FDA report warned that patients taking Vytorin 10/80 (a combination drug that contains Zocor) and the generic Simvastatin are also at risk for experiencing this side effect.

Patients affected by rhabdomyolysis typically suffer the rapid destruction of skeletal muscle. This results in muscle fiber contents being released into the bloodstream. In serious cases, this can lead to kidney damage, kidney failure, and death. Symptoms of rhabdomyolysis often include muscle aches and pains, muscle weakness and stiffness, muscle tenderness, darkening of urine, joint pain, and fatigue.

If you believe you may have a potential Zocor rhabdomyolysis claim and would like to learn more about your legal options, visit http://www.classaction.org/zocor.html. Complete the form at the bottom of the page with the details of your claim to receive a Free Case Evaluation from ClassAction.org. A Zocor attorney can help you understand your legal rights and determine if you are eligible to pursue a Zocor lawsuit in order to recover financial compensation.
