Detroit Plumber offers Safe, Cheap and Easy Solution for Clogged Drains
With the current trends moving toward “green” technology and “save our planet,” people are becoming more and more aware of dangers associated with certain cleaning products and liquid drain cleaners
(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 27, 2010 ) Detroit, MI – Larry Mitchell is a Detroit plumber who enjoys building customer relationships while providing an essential service. Mitchell advises people in his community to hire a Detroit plumber rather than attempting to do certain plumbing repairs themselves.
During a recent interview, Larry Mitchell offered some safe do-it-yourself tips for homeowners with a clogged drain or plugged toilet. “Liquid drain cleaners can be caustic and toxic,” said Mitchell. “I have seen people with skin and eye injuries as a result of trying to use a liquid drain cleaner and a plunger. The caustic liquid splashes them in the face, causing burns to the skin, a rash or worse, damage to their eyes.”
According to Mitchell, A much safer and Earth friendly solution for a clogged drain is to use two ingredients that you probably already have on hand; baking soda and vinegar. Do not mix them, but first pour a cup of baking soda into the drain and then follow it with a cup of vinegar. Wait until it stops reacting and then pour boiling water down the drain followed by a plunger if necessary.
Another solution Mitchell offered is to buy a toilet auger or plumber’s snake from your local hardware store. The snake is basically a long spring, tightly wound into a coil. Using the attached handle, unwind the coil into the clog to push it through. Though eco-friendly, the draw back is it can leave scratches on the toilet bowl. Also, in order to be used on most drains, something needs to be taken apart and put back together again.
If these methods of cleaning a clogged drain do not work, then the best idea is to call a Detroit plumber to come to the rescue. “Where you might spend an entire day unclogging a drain, I can complete the job within an hour of your appointment time so you can get on with your life,” said Mitchell.
Whether you need all new plumbing and fixtures installed or you just have a small plumbing leak, clogged drain or running toilet, Larry will fix the problem at a fair and reasonable rate. Visit http://www.thedetroitplumber.com/ to learn more.
