Pro Fighting Fans Covers UFC 115 Results Live
MMA & UFC news site features round by round coverage of UFC 115 fight results
(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 09, 2010 ) Cleveland, OH - ProFighting-fans.com, one of the world’s fastest-growing and most dedicated online destinations for original MMA coverage, commentary, and analysis is happy to announce that we will once again be providing in-depth coverage and round-by-round results and commentary of this weekend’s largest MMA event, UFC 115, which takes place Saturday, June 12 and airs live on Pay Per View. The official UFC 115 results will be tracked online on our Web site.
Featuring a main event pitting former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and UFC Hall of Famer Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell against former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich “Ace” Franklin, UFC 115 represents a turning point in the history of mixed martial arts, as one of the legends of the sport—Liddell, now 40 years old—looks for one last shot at relevance in the stacked 205lb division while another former champion looks to make his case for title contention in a new weight class.
For Liddell, Saturday night’s fight with Franklin in Vancouver represents not only his last shot at getting back on track toward a final title run, but could ultimately decided how fans remember the former champion. Once one of the most feared knockout artists in the sport, Liddell has lost four out of his last five fights and seemed to be well on the road to retirement following a first-round knockout loss to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in April of 2009. 15 months later, Liddell is looking to bounce back in a big way by giving Franklin his second consecutive knockout loss.
For his part, Franklin, a former middleweight champion, is coming off of a lengthy layoff of nine months following a first-round knockout loss to Vitor Belfort in September of 2009 in a 195-pound catch weight bout that he probably shouldn’t have taken in the first place given his busy 2009 fighting season. During that year, Franklin battled tooth and nail with three of the most infamous and powerful men in the division over the last decade, losing a close Split Decision to Dan Henderson before winning a hard-fought Unanimous Decision over Wanderlei Silva prior to the knockout loss to Belfort.
In the co-featured bout of the evening, two heavyweight kickboxers will clash in what promises to be one of the most exciting stand-up battles of 2010, when K-1 veterans Patrick Barry and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic battle for relevancy in the UFC’s heavyweight division. Another fighter looking to get back to his old form, Filipovic has a tough test ahead of him in the former of the shorter and more aggressive Barry, whose demolition of Antoni Hardonk in his last fight earned him matching Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night honors.
