Headlining UFC 113 will be the light heavyweight title rematch between reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and undefeated Karate master Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida and a man many consider to be the best light heavyweight fighter in the world—and one of the very best pound-for-pound fighters in the world—in Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

During their first five-round brawl in September of 2009, “Shogun” seemed to find the answer to the mystifying striking game and expert timing of the champion, attacking in measure bursts throughout the championship rounds and causing significant damage throughout the fight. Although the majority of fans and media watching live and at home felt that Rua had done enough to take the belt from Machida, the light heavyweight strap was not destined to change hands that night, as all three judges awarded Machida his first title defense with matching scores, giving him the fight 3 rounds to two.

While that decision left a sour taste in the mouths of many MMA fans around the world, nobody was more displeased than Mauricio Rua, whose title hopes seemed momentarily dashed. That is, until UFC President Dana White demanded an immediate rematch to be scheduled in order to determine whom the best in the world at 205lbs really is.

In addition to the light heavyweight title bout in the main event, the co-main event of UFC 113 will feature a significant bout in the promotion’s welterweight division, a fight that may even determine the next contender to the welterweight title currently held securely by Canadian superstar Georges St-Pierre, as TUF 1 alum and all-around bad boy Josh Koscheck goes head to head with British striking sensation Paul Daley, who owns some of the most explosive knockout victories in the division’s history.

Also making his first UFC Pay Per View appearance will be Internet sensation and TUF 10 fighter Kimbo Slice, as he faces off against former NFL player Matt Mitrione in one of the featured bouts of the evening.
