The Boyan’s son, Jeffrey, died as a result of the catastrophic injuries he sustained in an auto accident.
On January 2, 2007, Gary Marietta crossed the center line of State Road 40 in Ocala, Florida and ran head-on into a truck driven by 19-year-old Jeffrey Boyan. Mr. Boyan sustained serious head injuries as a result of the collision, which led to his death three months after the accident occurred. Jeffrey Boyan's parents, James and Laura Boyan, brought a wrongful death claim against Mr. Marietta for their pain and suffering, which consisted primarily of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Depression. On Wednesday April 21, 2010, an Ocala jury returned a verdict of $1.1 million for the Boyans.
