Srikeforce champion, Alistair Overeem, is shocked that the Missouri State Athletic Commission changes policy and initiates new drug testing
International Journalism Review (IJR) confirmed that Overeem was in shock, according to his Twitter updates, of the Missouri State Athletics' Commission decisive move to make drug testing a huge focus on the upcoming StrikeForce Mega Card on May 15, 2010

Rogers and Reilly talk about fight against Overeem and steroids
IJR asks, Could the days of the super chemically enhanced homerun shattering record athletes be coming to an end? Or even a bigger question, will Alistair Overeem actually fight now that the new testing is being sought? Not hardly says Mike Reilly, "Let's just say a lot of people talk in the business of mixed martial arts and secrets are not kept for long. Alistair Overeem seems to have a knack of gaining and losing a tremendous amount of weight in short periods, and many people feel he is on steroids. Maybe he is just a really gifted athlete in being able to put magazine Muscle and Fitness like physiques together very fast? But for the sport of MMA and especially for this particular fight, my hat goes off to the Missouri Athletic Commission for finally stepping up and doing the right thing, they have lagged for so long which is why I believed Overeem took the fight in this state but now might be freaking out. Rogers could care less if Alistair is steroided up or not, he is going to drop him and claim the StrikeForce Heavyweight championship no matter if a fully fledged robot shows up looking like Overeem. I too now question if Overeem will all of the sudden get injured or something, God hope not"
ProFightNetwork's president, Chris Greenman, was with his business partner Brett Rogers at the Body Shop (An MMA training center in Lakewood, CA.) and filmed Rogers and his Trainer as they give details about the up and coming fight against the Dutch Demolition man, Overeem, and some very candid responses to the issue of steroids in MMA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaGxQfaKdRc).
Per a phone interview with Chris Greenman he said, "Mike has been in the MMA and wrestling circles for a few decades and knows that this is obviously good news coming from the commission. I personally don't think steroids make you tough, I have seen many of my pro fighting friends take out steroid enhanced people on a weekly basis while bouncing at bars through college, but these buff bar room brawlers had no skills as pro fighters and therefore can't be gauged accordingly. If you are already a gifted athlete with technique and chemically enhanced it would present a natural advantage over an athlete of equal talent that was clean. That could be somewhat the case in this fight but I think Rogers is a more gifted athlete regardless and a better and smarter fighter. I actually don't see why Brett wouldn't be favored for this card considering the caliber of talent he has fought compared to Mr. Universe. Overeem is just very recognizable because of his steroid look and his primitive comparisons, but he doesn't impress me. Liddell dropped him with a quarter punch when Chuck was exhausted and Alistair's claim to fame is a double leg take down on Paul Buentello for the title? I like Paul a whole lot but he is very one dimensional and has zero ground game, my daughter Ciara Greenman, stands an equal chance of a takedown. All and all, this is again good preventative action by another state athletic commission, I once wrote an article on behalf of the Florida State Athletic Commission commending them on a great job in stepping in before a fight happened because of a mismatch that I pointed out on our MMABAY radio podcast, so I guess you guys saved me some writing."
Brett Rogers is on the road again in California and is now heading to Las Vegas with Chris Greenman next week to train at Xtreme Couture and do some one on one boxing with the great Ron Frazier. It seems mixing up training grounds and sparring partners is a growing trend in the sport of mixed martial arts. Let's face it, there is nothing like spending the last leg of your training camp at the UFC hall of Famer and legend's very own gym, Xtreme Couture.
