Find your Inner Artist in Boise

Come to Boise and leave inspired to release your inner artist.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 28, 2010 ) BOISE, Idaho, April 26, 2010 – Boise is a hub for cultural and artistic activity. Want to be entertained with classic theater and music, see the forefront of contemporary dance or learn about Basque culture? Look no further these are just a sampling of the offerings in Boise.
Music: Whether you prefer the philharmonic or underground sounds the Boise music scene has the soundtrack for your trip. Drum Central shares the love of dance and drumming with all levels and is currently developing a program for at risk youth. This fall the first annual Promenade Music Festival will be held with 10 venues, up to a hundred musical performances and an emphasis on keeping the event eco-friendly!
Art: Stop in the Boise Art Museum and wander wide-ranging exhibitions including contemporary American painters, ceramicists from the Pacific Northwest and robots as cultural icons. The museum encourages interaction and offers varying programs for toddlers, seniors and families. Catch the Trey McIntyre Project which works to advance contemporary dance and choreography through interesting and unique mediums.
Theater: Return to the classics in comfort at Idaho Shakespeare Festival Amphitheater and Reserve. The company is responsible for reaching over 50,000 school-age children and offers summer camps, drama school, and apprentice spots in addition to regular performances. For something a bit more lighthearted, visit Prairie Dog Productions, recently awarded Nickelodeon’s Parents Pick Award for Best Theater Group for Kids. Past productions include Sheerluck Holmes and Dr. Snotson and Star Warps.
Culture: A big part of culture in Boise is the Basque block. Once an area mainly for Basque immigrants today it shares the beauty and excitement of its culture with all who are interested. While here try to see a presentation of the Okinari dancers and then head over to the Basque Market for a cooking and wine tasting class.
With tons of options for accommodations and food as well as a large local airport what’s stopping you from visiting this new cultural destination.
