Using his impressive wrestling base and unbelievable strength and size advantage for the weight class, Maynard has literally bullied his way to dominant victories over lightweight contenders such as Dennis Siver, Rich Clementi, Jim Miller, Roger Huerta, and Nate Diaz during his run.

In addition to the aforementioned names, Maynard is also the only fighter to hold a victory over the current UFC Lightweight Champion of the world, Frankie “The Answer” Edgar, winning a three-round Unanimous Decision victory in their 2008 meeting.
