(NYSE:JPM) surged 2.42% to $46.97 in the morning session after the company said it earned $3.3 billion in profit for the first quarter, representing a growth of 55% from a year ago quarter. . On a per share basis, the New York City-based bank said it earned 74 cents a share during the quarter, way ahead of the Wall Street's consensus estimate of 64 cents a share.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) soared 3.78% to $23.63 after creating a new 52-week high of $23.69 in the opening session. Last night, the chip maker reported a better than expected earnings and provided a rosy outlook for the current quarter. The Santa Clara-based company reported first quarter net income of $2.4 billion, or 43 cents per share, compared with just $629 million, or 11 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue jumped 44% from last year, to $10.3 billion.
On average, Wall Street analysts expected a lower profit of 38 cents per share, on smaller revenue of $9.8 billion.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) climbed 1.13% to $245.16 after creating an all-time high of $245.51 after it said on Wednesday it would delay for one month the international launch of its popular iPad tablet computer, due to stronger-than-expected first-week sales in the United States.
Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) climbed 2.27% to $4.72 after it announced this morning that they will be selling their hedge fund business, a unit earmarked for sale as part of Citi Holdings, to SkyBridge Capital.
Adeona Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AMEX:AEN) soared 49.34% to $2.27 after The company said in a statement on Marketwire that a study of its Zinthionein ZC in Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment had “positive results.”
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) rose 2.30% and Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE:TXN) rose 2.86% to $26.61 after Intel’s earnings.
The Mosaic Company (NYSE:MOS) fell 3.56% to $54.76 after it was downgraded to “neutral” from “buy” at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Potash Corp./Saskatchewan (USA) (NYSE:POT) slid 3.75% to $108 after Goldman Sachs downgraded it to “neutral” from “buy,”
Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE:ABK) rose 11.11% to $1.80 after selling-off more than 50% from its intra-day high yesterday, and finishing in the red by 28%, Ambac is trading up nearly 20% this morning.
