Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) jumped 2% to $4.35. Yesterday the stock rose about 3% after Bloomberg reported, The U.S. Treasury intends to unload its 27 percent stake in bailed-out bank Citigroup Inc. using a preset trading plan that will lock the government into a schedule for selling its shares.
Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) rose 1.16% to $13.96 on moderate volume. The stock is one of the top performer in the year 2010 and jumped about 40%.
Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA) climbed 1.65% to $14.33 on heavy volume as commodities edging higher.
Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) gained 1.70% to $31.57 on heavy volume as investors in the sector were reassured by U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's reiteration of the need for low interest rates. Even after the late hour sell off, most of the financial stocks managed to close in green.
