On a GAAP basis, net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2010 was $16.1 million, or $0.25 per diluted share, compared to net income of $4.6 million, or $0.07 per diluted share for the first quarter of fiscal 2010, and a net loss of $1.9 million, or a net loss of $0.03 per share for the second quarter of fiscal 2009.

Dow Jones reported Friday that private-equity firm Thoma Bravo LLC will buy Plato Learning taking the company private in a deal valued at about $143 million. Thoma Bravo will pay Plato shareholders $5.60 a share, a 14% premium to Thursday's closing price of $4.91.
Cost Plus, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPWM) soars 26.42% to $2.68. The company swung to a fourth-quarter profit, and forecast a 3 percent to 5 percent increase in first-quarter same-store sales. For the quarter, the company reported net income of $21.1 million, or 95 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $18.3 million, or 83 cents a share, a year earlier.
