Airline Stocks Fall in Early Trade (UAUA, LCC, AMR, DAL, CAL, JBLU)

(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 11, 2010 ) Dallas, Tx - UAL Corporation (NASDAQ:UAUA) fell 1.77% to $18.65 on high volume. In the past 5 trading sessions, the stock has jumped about 11%.

Following yesterday’s massive rally, Thursday most of the top Airline stocks have opened lower. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) cut its forecast for industry losses this year in half. The IATA cited a stronger-than-expected economic recovery in emerging markets, especially Asia and Latin America. The international industry group raised its forecast for 2010 passenger traffic growth to 5.6% from 4.5%, compared with a 2.9% decline in 2009. Cargo traffic is now expected to jump by 12% this year, up from a December forecast of 7% growth.
US Airways Group, Inc. (NYSE:LCC) is the biggest percentage loser and fell 3% to $7.71.
AMR Corporation (NYSE:AMR) slid over 2% to $9.77 on high volume. In the past 5 trading sessions, the stock has jumped about 8%.
Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) fell 1.60% to $13.09.
Continental Airlines, Inc. (NYSE:CAL) fell 0.93% to $22.06.
JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) decreased 0.75% to $5.23.
