ClassAction.org Alerts Consumers of Transvaginal Mesh Complications
ClassAction.org is currently investigating Transvaginal Mesh injury claims from patients who experience serious complications following mesh placement procedures
(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 26, 2010 ) New York, NY - ClassAction.org is alerting consumers of a FDA warning regarding transvaginal meshes. According to a FDA public health notification, the transvaginal mesh, which is used to treat pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence, can lead to serious complications which may require additional surgeries.
The FDA has received over 1000 reports from transvaginal mesh manufacturers, including Johnson and Johnson and Boston Scientific, regarding surgical mesh complications such as infection, vaginal scarring, pain and urinary problems. Also reported were erosion through the vaginal epithelium, recurrence of prolapse or incontinence and bowel, bladder and blood vessel perforation. Many patients suffering from transvaginal mesh complications needed treatment including surgery, blood transfusions, draining of abscesses and IV therapy.
Although specific risk factors have not been established, the FDA suggests that the surgical technique, mesh material, size and shape of the mesh as well as the patient’s health may be contributing factors.
The transvaginal surgical mesh is used by doctors to treat two disorders affecting women—stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Stress urinary incontinence causes an involuntary loss of urine, while pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the pelvic organ falls from its normal position and pushes against the vaginal walls. These two medical problems most commonly occur after childbirth.
If you or a loved one has suffered serious transvaginal mesh side effects, including infection and bowel perforation, visit http://www.classaction.org/transvaginal-mesh.html today. You may be able to participate in a transvaginal mesh lawsuit to recover financial compensation for your medical bills and pain and suffering. To find out if you have a case, fill out the free, no obligation case review form today.
