Alcoa Inc. and Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. led commodity producers to the biggest gains among 10 groups in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index as oil, gold and copper rebounded in electronic trading following the close of commodities exchanges.
Following were the top commodities related stocks:
Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA) rose 2% to $13.18 after falling as much as 2% in the session earlier as aluminum prices recovered in the late session.
SPDR Gold Trust (ETF) (NYSE:GLD), the biggest Gold ETF, surged 0.20% to $104.55 after falling 1%.
Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) also recovered very well in the last hour and closed up 0.10% to $64.80 after touching a day’s low of $63.56.
Hess Corp. (NYSE:HES) shares gained 1.15% to $57.98 and AK Steel Holding Corporation (NYSE:AKS) soared 4.55% to $20.43.
