Potash Corp./Saskatchewan (USA) (NYSE:POT) was the top percentage gainer in the sector and rose over 3% to $107.78. Potash Corp is the world's largest fertilizer company and the world's largest producer of potash, accounting for more than 20 percent of global potash production capacity. The company typically plays a key role in acting as a swing producer, reining in production in times of oversupply, and raising output when demand is high.
The Mosaic Company (NYSE:MOS) jumped 2.30% to $57.64 on higher volume.
Agrium Inc. (USA) (NYSE:AGU) also gained 1.80% and close at $61.08.
Intrepid Potash, Inc. (NYSE:IPI) surged 2.80% to $27.12 and China Agritech Inc. (NASDAQ:CAGC) rallied 5.70% to $31.33.
