US Stocks Rallied For Second Day (WHR, AA, CMI, AXP, PCL, EK, S, AMD, XOM)

The National Association of Realtors' index for pending sales of previously owned homes jumped by 1.0%, topped expectations for the sales to be flat.

Tuesday, Dow had shown an impressive rally of over 1%, NASDAQ added 0.90% after falling 5.50% last month and S&P 500 surged 1.30% Vs fall of 3.75% in the month of January.
Following were some of stocks which were in focus in Tuesday’s trading session.
Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE:WHR) soared over 8% to $82.23 after the company’s net earnings more than doubled during fourth quarter and reported that It earned $95 million, or $1.24 per share, while revenue grew 12.7% to $4.86 billion. Analysts had been expecting earnings of $1.32 per-share on $4.44 billion in revenue. Whirlpool also guided 2010 expectations and said it is starting to see signs of business improving in North America.
Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA) also moved 2.32% to $13.67 after Citigroup Global Markets raised its investment rating on the aluminum giant to buy from hold.
Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI) rose 8.84% to $51.06 after fourth-quarter earnings soared as sales and margins increased and Cummins said it saw the most profitable fourth quarter in its history. The engine maker’s results smashed analysts’ forecasts.
American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) gained over 2% after BofA/Merrill upgraded the company’s share to Buy from Neutral.
Plum Creek Timber Co. Inc. (NYSE:PCL) rose 4.11% to $38.28 after its fourth-quarter profit plunged 71% as economic conditions continued to hurt results, but the timberland owner laid out a strong forecast for the new year, with earnings guidance topping Street estimates.
Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE:EK) continued its uptrend and soared 12.835 to $6.86 after posting better-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings late last week.
Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE:S) surged about 10% to $3.67.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) fell about 1% to $7.91 after Goldman Sachs added AMD to its Conviction Sell list as the firm expects losses to continue in 2010.
Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) jumped over 1% to $66.96 after BofA/Merrill upgraded the company’s share to Buy from Neutral.
