Dallas, Tx - National Penn Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ:NPBC) plunged 16.90% to $5.95 on 5.21 million shares after the company posted a wider-than-expected fourth-quarter loss, hurt by higher provision for loan losses, slashed dividend and named a new chief executive. For the fourth quarter, the bank holding company said net loss applicable to common share holders stood at $283.3 million, or $2.25 a share, compared with a loss of $36.2 million, or 45 cents a share, last year.
