(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 25, 2010 ) GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA— Recreo Resort, located on Bolanos Bay on the northwest Pacific coast, province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, has designed a new volunteer vacation to encourage guests to participate in aiding its local community. Recreo, situated within a private 63-acre coastal estate, offers panoramic views from mountaintop to secluded beaches. The ecologically sensitive resort features 8 private, secluded villas each varying in size with between 1 and 5 bedrooms or suites for a total of 25 bedrooms with bathrooms; all villas have balconies and a private infinity or plunge pool. A dedicated chef prepares 3 personalized meals a day in the full kitchen of the villa and daily housekeeper service is included. The volunteer program will give two free nights following a consecutive 5 night stay at a special rate of $239 per person per night including all meals (there is an additional charge for Feb 11-17 period).

Volunteer possibilities take place in the nearby small fishing village of El Jobo, where Recreo has already installed a new well and pump for the approximately 700 residents who are hired exclusively by the resort as well as donating bicycles for the local police department. Current program possibilities include at least one full day of helping to build a school, aiding the underprivileged, protecting endangered animals, working on a farm or teaching students U.S. geography. The program will run through March 26, 2010.

The property includes the Spa at Recreo located in the forest, a full-service fitness center and a tournament-quality tennis facility. The white sand beaches at Playa Rayada and Playa Jobo are within walking distance. Horseback riding, mountain biking, kayaking and snorkeling are also available at the resort.

Recreo is best accessed through the international airport in Liberia (about one hour’s drive) or through San Jose International Airport. Transfers are by chauffeured car.
