THE BIRDS, THE BEES, AND A BOTTLE OF VIAGRA

Parents are Speaking to their Kids about Viagra from an Early Age.

Generic ED Medications

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 20, 2010 ) San Diego, CA - Since the advent of the now famous “blue pill,” social scientists have long wrestled with the ramification of a nation which many people view as over-sexualized and the proliferation of the Viagra pill, which promised to extend the sexual activities of adults well beyond their natural childbearing years.

Instead of blaming the lack of personal responsibility, some attribute the actions of social deviants like the “Octo-Mom,” on a culture excessively obsessed with sex. When the story broke that this single, unemployed woman in her mid-thirties voluntarily and enthusiastically had a doctor artificially inseminate her with eight children, the media couldn’t get enough. Almost every media outlet from print to tv to internet ran stories on Octo-mom making her an instant celebrity and a household name.

The media has always known that sex sells, and now the pharmaceutical industry is beginning to get in on this action. In 2008, Pfizer, the manufacturer of Viagra, had netted more than $2 Billion with the sales of the blue pill worldwide. Other pharmaceutical giants, Bayer and Eli Lilly, have also done financially well with their competitor products for erectile dysfunction, Levitra and Cialis, respectively. Days ago, another pharmaceutical company, Vivus has emerged onto the scene with competition. Its drug Avanafil promises faster erection than Viagra, Cialis, or Levitra.

Further proof of the trend of a nation and perhaps a world becoming increasingly sex obsessed is evident in India. India is unique as its pharmaceutical laws, high tech industry, and FDA-like drug manufacturing standards has allowed it to become the world’s largest high quality generic drug producer. Cipla, India’s largest pharmaceutical company has recently inked another deal with giant GlaxoSmithKline to be its exclusive generic drug manufacturer. One of Cipla’s most profitable products remains generic Viagra, generic Levitra, and generic Cialis.

The financial success of the sales of the erectile dysfunction drugs are not only attributed to its target market. Healthy young men with no impotence-like symptoms are also using the drug regularly, touting its ability to improve performance. Viagra is quickly becoming the party drug of this generation.

With an onslaught of sexual imagery from the media industry and further sexual allusions propagated by pharmaceutical advertisements, parents have no choice to not only discuss the birds and the bee at a child’s earlier age, but to also include the risks associated with using erectile dysfunction medication without a prescription.
