Just a short drive into the ‘high country’ lays one of the coolest mountain towns above 9,000 feet – Breckenridge. While people at lower elevations work nine to five and suck up the bountiful amounts of oxygen, locals and visitors in ‘Breck’ enjoy spending days on the 1,800-foot kayak park – free of charge. The longest park in Colorado incorporates 15 features that present challenges to boaters of any level. Take a ride down one of the three rivers in Breck. The Blue River and Colorado River offer a relaxing day on the water for any ability. For a technical run with continuous rapids, try the Numbers stretch of the Arkansas River.
