Sail the Blue Waters of the Galapagos Islands on a Green Catamaran

The Journey III is a new eco-friendly boat that sails the Galapagos Islands. Press trips available.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 04, 2009 ) QUITO, Ecuador – Due to their unrivaled stability and comfort, Catamarans are the ideal type of boat from which to explore the Galapagos Islands. Latin Trails has taken safety and comfort a step further with its brand-new boat, the Journey III. The Journey III is the latest and greatest in eco-friendly cruise ships and it’s available for bookings now.

Discerning travelers looking for a meaningful, comfortable and intimate cruise will find it on the Journey III. Ocean view cabins offer all the amenities that make the boat feel like home during a vacation. The boat features 8 cabins each with a private bath, hot water, air conditioning and a closet. The 16-passenger capacity makes a more intimate cruise and ensures personal attention from the staff. The crew to guest ratio is 2:1 so there is one crew member for every two guests.

But that’s not all – meals are an event on the Journey III. Each meal on board is a treat for the taste buds as the chef prepares the finest international and local dishes using the highest-quality fresh ingredients.. All meals include the choice of meat, poultry, seafood or vegetarian options. Salads are freshly tossed and fresh fruit is always available. The Journey III is also home to a selection of the best wines from around the world to compliment each meal.

“We believe that the key to a great itinerary is variety and therefore the Journey III visits several types of ecosystems within the Galapagos Archipelago,” said Marcel Perkins, general manager of Latin Trails who operators the boat.

Shore excursions are packed full of several activities including nature hikes, zodiac rides, snorkeling or kayaking -- and of course time to relax on the beach. Throughout these activities, on-board guides will bring out the best of the Islands, sharing knowledge and fun facts about the Islands natural history. All guides are certified by the Galapagos National Park and have gone through intensive training programs. They have several years of experience and a strong passion for sharing their knowledge of the wildlife, biology, geology and natural history of the islands.

Trips include many different types of landscapes and a good combination of bird sightings as well as visits to land and marine iguana sighting areas, research centers and tortoise breeding projects. The itinerary has been designed in order to optimize time so that sailings between islands are short and land/snorkel visits are longer.
