(NYSE:CPF) was among the active losers in today`s trading session as it plunged over 35.32% to close at $1.52 on huge volume of over 6.96 million shares after the company reported its largest quarterly loss ever, $183.1 million in the third quarter. The parent company of Central Pacific Bank said it lost $6.38 per share for the quarter that ended Sept. 30. Total deposits in the third quarter were $3.9 billion, compared to $3.8 billion during the same period last year. Core deposits were $3.1 billion, an increase of $435.6 million from a year ago.

K-Sea Transportation Partners L.P. (NYSE:KSP) plunged $2.86 or 20.43% to close at $11.14 on a volume of over 2.66 million shares after the company cut its dividend and warned about possible covenant breaches yesterday. Tysseland downgraded K-SEA to "Sell" from "Hold" and set a price target of $11.50 on the company's stock. K-Sea Transportation Partners L.P. is a provider of marine transportation, distribution and logistics services for refined petroleum products in the United States.

Brush Engineered Material (NYSE:BW) was also the active loser in today’s trading session and fell 14.53% to end the day at $20 on unusual volume of over 805K shares after the company today reported net income for the third quarter of 2009 of $0.1 million or $0.01 per share, diluted, on sales of $190.5 million. Operating profit for the third quarter was $8.5 million, up $0.8 million over the third quarter of 2008. Operating profit year to date was $17.6 million versus $18.3 million for the first nine months of last year.
