Comstock Resources, Inc. announced that it has priced an underwritten public offering of $300.0 million of senior notes due 2017, which will bear interest at a rate of 8 3/8% per annum. The notes are being sold at 98.571% of par, which equates to an effective yield to maturity of approximately 8 5/8%. Comstock expects to close the sale of the notes on October 9, 2009. Comstock intends to use the net proceeds of the offering to repay outstanding borrowings under its bank credit facility and for other general corporate purposes. Banc of America Securities LLC is acting as the lead joint book running manager for the offering.
Venoco, Inc. (NYSE:VQ) was among the most active stocks. The stock increased over 10% and closed at $13.53 with over 1.13 million shares being traded. Yesterday, Venoco Inc. has privately sold $150 million in senior notes to repay debt. The Denver-based oil and gas company (NYSE: VQ) priced the unsecured notes at 95.03 percent of principal. The 11.5 percent notes mature on Oct. 1, 2017.
