Labor Day event in Spencer, Iowa
Artist John Brommel to teach a two-hour workshop on Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2009 at the Curiel-Reynolds School of Visual Arts in Spencer, IA.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 04, 2009 ) Spencer, IA -- The Curiel-Reynolds School of Visual Arts (CRVA) is hosting the event from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on Labor Day, September 7, 2009.
Brommel has over 500 hundred of sculptures and 2-D metal paintings on public display or in private collections, and he avidly recycles material. In his two-hour workshop on Monday Brommel will cover the following topics:
1. Repurposing materials and creativity
2. The artist - food for the body as well as the soul
3. Mixed media and mixed genre
4. Time management - creativity meets work ethic
5. Shattering paradigms
6. Overcoming obstacles
Art instructors in all Clay and Dickinson County High Schools and Colleges have been personally invited to Brommel's free workshop and have been urged to give students attending the workshop extra credit. The school's Director, Tony Curiel, is hoping for a good turn-out from the youthful emerging artists in the Iowa Great Lakes area -- which includes Spencer.
Local organizations and businesses making this event possible include CRVA, SPACE, and The Prairie Cottage.
