“The market for micro-turbines is expected to reach $2.4 to $8 billion by 2010, according to the Gas Research Institute (GRI), with most of this market outside of the United States. Industry leaders anticipate that micro-turbines will generate up to 8% of the additional one million MW of power needed capacity in 2010.
“On August 24, the Company received an order from Capstone distributor, Fluxo Servicios de Petroleo, for three C800 micro-turbines for a Brazilian wastewater treatment plant. The order is valued at more than $2 million dollars, and represents the first order for the Company in the South American market. The wastewater treatment plant will run the turbines on waste methane created during the water treatment process. The Company stated that the three turbines will produce 2.4 megawatts of electricity to power the plant as well as provide excess heat to maintain proper temperatures for the sewage digester at the plant.”
