John Brommel to Teach Art Workshop At the Curiel-Reynolds School of Visual Arts
The community of Spencer, Iowa, will be treated to a two-hour workshop on Labor Day lead by a unique and well-known Iowa sculptor, John Brommel.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 17, 2009 ) Spencer, Iowa -- The youth of the community of Spencer are going to have a new way to end their Labor Day holiday as Des Moines artist John Brommel will be giving a two hour workshop focused on the techniques he utilizes to create art entirely from discarded and recycled materials.
The Curiel-Reynolds School of Visual Arts is hosting the event from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on Labor Day, September 7, 2009. Director, Tony Curiel, has been actively trying to get this artist to teach at his school since the school opened two years ago. Brommel's busy schedule has just not allowed him to do so until now.
Brommel began sculpting in wood in 1979 and ten years later taught himself to sculpt in stone. This lead to his metal sculpting career beginning in 1998 and continued to move on to airbrush paintings on aluminum in 2003. Brommel strives for his work to be as "green" as possible. He avidly recycles material. Brommel has over 500 hundred of sculptures and 2-D metal paintings on public display or in private collections at this time.
There will not be any charge for youth attending the workshop, and adults are also welcome. For further information contact Tony Curiel at (712) 580-5035.
