(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 06, 2009 ) CASPER, Wyoming — Casper, Wyoming will be hosting its 12th annual Hunting and Fishing Expo at the Casper Events Center this September 10th, 11th, and 12th. Held each September, the Wyoming Hunting & Fishing Heritage Expo is a free event which invites the public to be a part of this celebration of Wyoming’s unique wildlife and beautiful wildlands. Open to the public, there are hands-on activities and other educational opportunities for everyone, from young to old.

During this event, visitors will enjoy highlights like a Mountain Man Camp, Native American Dancers, Live Snake Demonstrations, Field Dog Demonstrations, and try their hand at Canoeing, Archery, Fly-tying, and Live Firearm and Shooting Sports. There are Safe Camping and demonstrations including the Bear Trail (with information on safely traveling in bear country), and a special “Kidz Korner” with crafts and Native American story-telling and Wildlife Animal displays. Also, on Saturday, Sept 12th - the first 1,000 kids that complete the "North Platte Walleye Aquatic Challenge" will receive a free rod and reel fishing combo, sponsored by the North Platte Walleyes. Then, on Sunday the 13th there will be a Women’s Only Shotgun Clinic at the Casper Trap & Skeet Club.

The Expo is hosted by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department with exhibitors from over 150 regional businesses, agencies, and organizations and the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center is a partner that will be giving free student entry during the Expo. The goal of the Wyoming Hunting & Fishing Heritage Expo is to strengthen people’s relationship with wildlife and habitats by providing Wyoming’s citizens with learning and participation opportunities that effectively communicate the relevance of wildlife and habitat management, teach them outdoor skills, encourage ethical behavior and stewardship, and perpetuate Wyoming’s hunting, fishing and wildlife heritage.

Wyoming is endowed with a wealth of free-ranging wildlife, an expanse of wild lands and a bounty of wildlife-related recreational opportunities. Unlike sport shows or outdoor trade shows with a commercial emphasis, the Expo has proven itself as a successful education outreach tool to gain supporters of the ethical and responsible use of Wyoming’s natural resources by providing learning opportunities relating to the management of Wyoming’s wildlife and wild lands and the outdoor skills that can be enjoyed in Wyoming.
