By NCCER
(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 30, 2009 ) Gainesville, Fla. — NCCER will host a revised safety management academy for safety professionals Sept. 19-25, 2009 at Clemson University, Clemson, S.C.
NCCER worked with leading subject matter experts from around the country to revise course material to reflect key safety topics for the 60-hour academy.
”Curriculum for the Safety Management Academy has been significantly revised to better equip the safety manager to function as a member of the organization’s executive management team,” said safety academy instructor Steven Pereira, CSP, Professional Safety Associates, LLC.
New course topics include safety-related construction documents; planning and scheduling; effective communication; calculating return on investment; analyzing performance problems; root cause analysis; managing the safety, training and orientation process; developing a crisis management program.
The Safety Management Academy is designed for both corporate safety directors and experienced field safety coordinators and provides the philosophy, operating knowledge, and techniques necessary to design and implement a quality construction safety program for contractors.
Academy participants are provided with an intense one-week training session of group projects, lectures, case studies, and team-building activities. In addition, participants can earn industry credentials from NCCER’s National Registry and six continuing education units from Clemson University.
The academy is led by quality instructors with extensive construction experience and held at the outdoor laboratory on Lake Hartwell at Clemson University. The secluded and rustic cabin setting provides the ideal learning environment and fosters a lasting professional bond among participants.
Academy tuition is $2795 and includes lodging, all meals, course materials, activities, and transportation to and from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. For more information on the Safety Management Academy or to register online visit the NCCER Web site.
