(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 27, 2009 ) A past Vice-President of Optimist International, Herb Strather is personally responsible for the development of 115 chapters of Optimists worldwide. He has donated over $1 million to the Optimists assuring their success in the areas of motivating today’s young people to go on to social services careers and to engage in community service organizations as adults.

Another example of connecting community services with Strather & Associates residential investment properties is the Woodbridge Estates development project. Plans in the early stages of planning included linking the James B. Edmondson Elementary School electronically with the neighboring Woodbridge Estates. This will enable the provision of homework, library resources and other communications between the school, students and parents living within the Woodbridge community.

Herb has headed a capital campaign to raise funds to support the Benjamin E. Mays Academy and its planned expansion. The academy is a pioneering school for boys in pre-kindergarten through the seventh grade. The academy was founded by the Reverend James E. Perkins in 1993. It was chartered to reinforce Christian values of self-respect, self-help and community responsibility. Currently there are 120 students enrolled. Mr. Strather’s capital fund raising campaign will aid in the expansion to accommodate middle and high school students.
