Despite the global financial crunch, tuna exports fetched around US$189 Million in 2008. This earning is expected to grow at a CAGR of about 23% between 2009 and 2013, says a new report “Processed Food Market in Vietnam”, by RNCOS, a leading research firm.

Our findings show that Vietnam’s tuna exports could increase significantly in the coming years despite the global economic slump, which has cast a shadow on most of the country’s seafood exports. Additionally, to build up Vietnamese tuna brand and promote sustainable development in the future, the ministry of agriculture and rural development (MARD) is planning to establish a separate association for tuna exporters. It will have full legal status and connect members across the country with each other to share both benefits and risks.
