Free Summer Festival Showcases National Headliners and Colorado Bands

With two-time Grammy® Award winner Melissa Etheridge: Live and Alone, performing on Saturday, and Latin Grammy®, two-time Billboard Latin, and two-time Grammy® Award -winning band Ozomatli headlining Sunday, music lovers will not be disappointed. As part of the Bohemian Nights program, more than 50 Colorado bands will be performing on five stages rounding out the weekend celebration of music, art, food, and entertainment. Established over 136 years ago along the banks of the Cache La Poudre River, Fort Collins commemorates its birthday each year with the late-summer celebration. With more than 120,000 estimated attendees, Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest claims its spot as the largest community festival in Northern Colorado. According to Katy Schneider, marketing and communications manager of the Fort Collins Convention and Visitors Bureau, “Summers in Fort Collins would not be complete without Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest. It has grown so much from a small community gathering to a substantial draw for visitors and locals alike. The diversity of music, dance performances, children’s activities and booths appeals to a broad spectrum of attendees.”
Located in historic downtown, the festival has 300 arts and crafts booths, food vendors, two beer gardens, and features the Bohemian Nights music lineup. In total, there are seven stages of continuous free entertainment. Schneider also notes that, “Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest is a celebration for all. With its tasty food and great music, the festival has the kind of atmosphere that gives Fort Collins its’ charm.” Even younger music lovers can get into the groove with the Kids’ Music Adventure (KMA), designed to expose children to the inspirational qualities of music by providing engaging, interactive features such as music workshops, an instrument petting zoo, and special performances suited for children in grades K-6.
The festival weekend kicks-off with a concert by the 3 Twins, on Friday, August 14, at 7 p.m. The full festival grounds are open at 10:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
