Beer Lovers Unite at 20th Annual Colorado Brewers’ Fest in Fort Collins

Beer lovers unite! Fort Collins’ 20th annual Brewers’ Festival, held in historic Old Town Square June 27-28, promises food, fun, music, and of course, beer.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 29, 2009 ) FORT COLLINS, Colo.— Beer lovers unite! Fort Collins’ 20th annual Brewers’ Festival, held in historic Old Town Square June 27-28, promises food, fun, music, and of course, beer. As the largest beer-producing town in Colorado, Fort Collins is a natural choice to hold the annual event. The five local host breweries include New Belgium Brewing Company, famous for its Fat Tire Amber Ale; Fort Collins Brewery, with its Great American Beer Festival (GABF) award-winning Rauchator Doppelbock; Anheuser-Busch; Odell Brewing Company, proud to claim their Five Barrel Pale Ale as the 2006 GABF Gold Medal winner; and Coopersmith Pub & Brewing. Attendees can sample more than 50 Colorado ales from over 400 kegs, complemented by phenomenal, local food and music each day, featuring evening headliners Roe and The Caleb Riley Funk Orchestra. According to Katy Schneider, marketing and communications manager of the Fort Collins Convention and Visitors Bureau, “Brewfest epitomizes the beer culture that makes Fort Collins such an attraction. Beer connoisseurs, casual beer drinkers, home brewers, and those who love a good celebration all converge on Old Town Fort Collins to sample the nation’s best when it comes to ales.” From boutique beer concoctions to favorite, tried-and-true brews, there’s a different beer for everyone, and they all toast the Rocky Mountains. Schneider also notes that “The Colorado Brewers Festival has grown exponentially since its inception in 1990. The first year of the festival there were nine brews available. This year there will be more than 50. It’s been quite a journey to get to this point,” said Schneider, “and Brewfest has definitely put itself on the map.” The beer festival also offers the perfect excuse to ease into additional explorations around Fort Collins, including the new Soapstone Prairie Natural Area and the city’s premier outdoor recreation destination – the Poudre River Canyon – where hiking, biking, climbing, river sports, and more await. Rest assured that the beer will flow throughout the two-day festival, and it will be one big party until the last pint goes down. Cheers! Admission for the festival is a bargain at $10 for a two-day Saturday/Sunday pass, and a mere $6 for Sunday-only pass. All beer tokens are $2.
