SAN RAFAEL, Ecuador—Specialty tour operator Latin Trails announces the arrival of its remodeled Galapagos fleet, completely updated and refurbished since their initial construction in 2006. Consisting of two catamarans and one luxurious yacht, the Latin Trails fleet offers an intimate and close-up view of the Galapagos Islands, commonly referred to as a “living laboratory” of biodiversity.

Travelers that seek an escape from the typical can choose between two luxe catamarans: Galapagos Journey I and Galapagos Journey II, which offer the speed of a larger cruise ship, as well as the comfort and spaciousness typically found on a yacht.

Features of the catamaran fleet include:
• Redesigned double lower berth cabins with private bathrooms, hot water showers and air conditioning
• Standard oceanview and panoramic views with windows that open
• Outside observation decks that grant stunning, scenic views
• Fine dining room and on-deck alfresco dining areas
• Hot water Jacuzzi and sun bathing chaises on the sun deck
Featuring all of the above amenities and more is the third boat in the Latin Trails’ fleet, the new Galapagos Odyssey. A 16-passenger boat, the Odyssey offers extremely spacious cabins and caters to the most discerning Galapagos travelers.

From playful sea lions to giant tortoises and marine iguanas, nature runs abound on the islands and in the surrounding sea, creating a haven for wildlife-loving tourists. In 2009, many tourists will pay homage to British naturalist Charles Darwin, whose birth and publication of “On the Origin of Species” will celebrate anniversaries. The Galapagos Islands, Darwin’s playground, offers excellent viewing of Darwin’s favored finches.
