Mr. Butterfield passed an exam based on standard dryer vent service practices. To pass, candidates must earn a score of 80 or higher. Certification is valid for three years from the test date.

The C-DET exam is based upon a reference manual containing up-to-date technical information on the cleaning, maintenance, and repair of dryer exhaust vent systems.
