(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 23, 2008 ) BRODHEAD, WI --- Joylene Reavis spends many winter days reminiscing of warmer times by painting vibrant flowers on dark green emu eggshells. Ms. Reavis and her husband, Mike, own and operated Sugar Maple Emu Farm, www.SugarMapleEmu.com, located SW of Brodhead, Wisconsin. Among her more popular creations are pink roses, yellow sunflowers, white daisies and orange poppies. “I am drawn to the details of the flowers with their vibrant colors and symmetrical shapes” says Reavis. Her eggshell art is being showcased on the September/October online issue of Emu’s Zine, an online magazine that features emu products.

Reavis has been painting, as well as carving, emu eggshells for several years. “I am mainly inspired by my husband's sister, Veda Olson, who paints the beautiful animal and landscape eggshells that we offer for sale here at Sugar Maple Emu Farm” says Reavis. Olson encouraged Reavis to try her hand at painting as well as carving. As in nature, every flower Reavis paints is slightly different, making each eggshell creation unique. Most of her work is sold through the Sugar Maple Farm Store during the spring and summer months, but orders may be made online year-round.

Reavis is a member of the American Emu Association and one their Certified Business Members.
