CIEDEC Conference to Help Businesses Go Global
Key experts in international exports to give advice on overseas contacts, cutting through the red tape, financing programs, logistics and more.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 06, 2008 ) Palm Springs, Calif. -- The dollar is low. Exports are up. This is the ideal time for businesses owners to start thinking about taking their products overseas. The U.S. Department of Commerce’s California Inland Empire District Export Council is bringing together experts this month to help get them started.
What: 2008 National District Export Council Conference
When: Oct. 15-18
Where: Wyndham Hotel, 888 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs Cost: $395 for three days; $125 for one day, $100 per one-on-one consultation.
Live Web cast: www.giveforthefuture.org
Info: www.decconference.com or 909-466-4134
The annual national conference, hosted this year by the CIEDEC in Palm Springs, will feature high-ranking government officials, CEOs and foreign leaders who will come together to discuss Free Trade Agreements, logistics, finance packages and other issues directly impacting U.S. businesses and the exporting community-at-large.
“This is the ideal opportunity for businesses wanting to expand their product sales to an international market,” said CIEDEC Director Fred Latuperissa. “I’ve known many business owners who have spent thousands of dollars on a fact-finding mission overseas only to return home empty-handed. This conference is a one-stop solution that continues to deliver positive results.”
People unable to attend the conference can watch it live via the Internet at www.giveforthefuture.org. Preregistration for the Web cast is required and can be arranged at www.decconference.com. The Web cast is part of a sponsorship established for the conference by the nonprofit Green Institute for Village Empowerment, (GIVE), and its Green Valley Initiative, an economic development plan to establish a clean and green technology economy in the Inland Empire.
Among the many services offered at the conference are:
- Nationally acclaimed keynote speakers
- Workshops that will get you started
- Networking opportunities
- Private consultations
- Export financing programs
More than 70 percent of the world’s purchasing power is beyond U.S. borders. With ease of transportation, the Internet, and free trade agreements, there’s never been a better time to sell internationally:
- California is known as the world’s eighth largest economy. From 2003-2007, the state’s exports increased by 43 percent, topping $134 billion last year:
- More than 52,000 companies exported goods from California locations in 2006, 95 percent of which were small and medium-sized firms with fewer than 500 employees.
- Many more companies could be exporting, and among all U.S. exporters, nearly 60 percent only sell to one market.
California Inland Empire District Export Council is a non-profit organization appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to provide sources of professional advice to the Inland Empire region business community seeking to expand international business. Nationwide, there are 56 District Export Councils.
With its network of offices across the U.S. and in more than 80 countries, the U.S. Commercial Service utilizes its global presence and international marketing expertise to help U.S. companies sell their products and services worldwide. For more information, visit www.export.gov.
