62% Of Parents Admit Letting Their Children Get Sunburned
Over 25% of parents admit allowing their children to become sunburned while on vacation abroad ... with 8% 'not bothered' by dangers
In half of the world at least, the end of the summer season is just around the corner, but children are still at risk of getting sunburned, quite a serious matter when Doctors are saying that sun-damaged skin does increase the risk of skin cancer, apart from the fact that rates of melanoma have increased over the last 30 years.
Most Doctors would advice parents that the best way to protect children from getting sunburned is by applying a high factor sun screen with an SPF between 15 and 50 before leaving the house, with the latter blocking out 98 % of harmful UV rays, as well as always reapplying the cream after bathing, even when using a water resistant product.
Other health recommendations include to always protect children's skin from getting burnt by wearing long sleeved clothing and long pants, and for very small children a good idea is to wear long sleeve swim shirts at the beach or by the pool.
Other good advice includes the time of day children are exposed to the sun with much importance paid to avoiding the heat of the day being between 10 am and 4 pm. Sun glare is something else that makes children feel uncomfortable, so one highly recommended solution to prevent children from squinting is to wear sunglasses with UV ray protection to help protect their sensitive eyes from unrepairable sun damage.
Parents are often unaware of eye damage especially when driving in a car, when the sun is still putting their children's vision at risk, apart from feeling uncomfortable when traveling with the direct sunshine blazing down on them, so a simple car window sun shade is an official recommendation for protecting children from the sun while sitting in the back of the car.
While interviewing Neil Speight, official spokesman for Nevada based accessory company "Freddie and Sebbie," he said he was quite aware of the problem of children getting sunburned in the car, having 4 kids of his own, and told me how their company had spent a whole year creating a quality product that was up to the job of protecting children from getting sunburned, and that the Freddie and Sebbie car sun shade had been specially designed with dual layer mesh fabric/PVC material, and would provide UPF 30+ sun protection at all times, blocking out UV rays, sun glare, heat and always helping to keep kids or babies cool at all times.
