Phytoceramides Can Help Americans Save Millions Of Dollars
Looking younger doesn't have to come with a high cost
According to the most recent data from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, there is an overall 12 percent increase in the number of cosmetic procedures (both invasive and noninvasive) on men and women in 2013. The cost for the procedures to erase lines and smoothen skin amounted to approximately $12 billion. $5 billion accounted for noninvasive procedures, which included those that are aimed at achieving a younger appearance, like botox.
In fact, botox ranks as the top procedure for both men and women. It remained as the most frequently performed procedure. It increased by 15.6 percent from last year. The number of nonsurgical procedures, which include botox, rose by 13.1 percent (9.5 million procedures) from 2013.
What's interesting about these data is the number of men who have turned to cosmetic procedures to achieve a younger and fresher look. It's common knowledge that women are more concerned about fine lines and wrinkles. Based on the data provided by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, it's evident that more men are becoming more conscious of how they look.
Since 1997, the number of men who underwent surgical procedures to look younger increased by as much as 206 percent. Procedures performed on males accounted for 1 million or 9.4 percent of the total figures.
Unlike most women, however, men aren't concerned about looking young because of vanity. Guys do not necessarily want to erase years from their face. They just want to look more refreshed and rejuvenated because they don't want to be left behind in their careers. Yes, their main motivation for turning back the hands of time is to stay employed and prove that, despite their age, they can be as productive as their younger counterparts.
David Goldberg, a dermatologic surgeon, says that men only want to have a relaxed, rested look. They only want to soften the look of aging and revitalize their skin.
Men aren't really that scared of growing old because they know that they age better than women. A study that involved 2000 British individuals showed that 59 percent of men admitted that they thought they aged way better than their wives. This isn't that surprising because males have different skin than women.
Men have skin that's 25 percent thicker than women. They also have better collagen density, texture, and hydration. These are the reasons why women manifest the signs of aging worse than men. Thicker skin and more collagen means lesser chances of developing wrinkles and fine lines.
Still, men are starting to pay more attention to slowing down aging. The American Society of Plastic Surgery stated that men commonly have these 5 facial treatments done: botox, microdermabrasion, laser hair removal, chemical peel, and laser skin rejuvenation.
James Stuzin, plastic surgeon and president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, said that people are starting to have cosmetic procedures at an early age because they don't want to have to get major work done when they get older.
This preventive measure makes a lot of sense. Doing something to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sunspots right now will help people look younger in old age. But it doesn't mean one has to spend hundreds (even thousands) of dollars to achieve this. Simple things like eating healthy and taking phytoceramides supplements can get it done.
Phytoceramides are plant-derived ceramides that can reverse the signs of aging. These natural lipids can re-hydrate the skin, which helps prevent the formation of wrinkles. These also nourish the skin, creating a stronger barrier against the sun's harmful rays. Clinical trials have proven that getting younger, more supple, and glowing skin is possible with phytoceramides. FDA has recently approved these supplements after being popular in Japan for several years.
There are many procedures that can improve skin care for men and women. But these usually come with a high price tag. Phytoceramides supplements take away the high cost.
