Tuvizo Highlights The Importance Of Staying Hydrated While Exercising
The reflective gear maker Tuvizo recently expressed concerns on the dangers of dehydration during exercise. In a recent blog post, the company said that severe body water loss can degrade performance as well as lead to serious medical conditions.

Jo from Tuvizo's PR says, "The right hydration is really important to ensure an individual is comfortable while exercising. Take care to evaluate your own situation and prepare accordingly."
People who have consumed caffeine-rich drinks or any type of carbonated beverage within 12 hours prior to exercising are at a particular risk as they are most likely starting their workout with a body-water deficit. Ample amount of water or fluids need to be consumed before, during, and after each exercise session, according to the Tuvizo article. Appropriate exercise clothing, including a reflective vest (when exercising outdoors), should also be worn.
The Human Performance Resource Center (HPRC), a U.S. Department of Defense initiative under the Pentagon's Force Health Protection and Readiness Program, had concluded that prolonged exercise particularly in extreme heat, can lead to excessive sweating and significant water and electrolyte reduction. If this condition is not immediately corrected and water and electrolyte levels are not replenished, muscle function and performance can be greatly hampered.
Dehydrated persons often complain of lightheadedness, heart palpitations, dry mouth, and nausea, according to the Tuvizo article. The HPRC also noted that dehydration and severe electrolyte loss can also result to debilitating muscle cramps. In severe cases, the patient may experience temporary disorientation and lose consciousness. It is critical that the patient be brought under competent medical care immediately.
The HPRC warned that once dehydration had set in, it is advisable to limit the water intake of the patient to one liter (one quart) per hour to avoid a life-threatening condition called hyponatremia, a condition characterized by low salt levels in the blood.
Ideally, according to the Tuvizo article, anyone who wants to stay hydrated while exercising and get the most benefit from the effort should drink small amounts of water or fluid at regular intervals during the course of the exercise routine.
Tuvizo is a newly emerging company specializing in high visibility clothing primarily designed for use in outdoor fitness and leisure pursuits.
The company believes safety combined with user friendly design and functionality is paramount.
