3 Tips To Make The Batteries In Your Remote Control Flameless Candles Last Longer.
How to extend the life of batteries in remote control flameless candles; and where to get good deals on flameless candles.
In general, the run-time on flameless candles can last anything from 50-150 hours per candle, depending on the brand. Regardless of whether the candles are at the top-end, where they are lit frequently either in a home or restaurant; or ones that are lit occasionally, here are some tips to make the batteries last longer:
1) Turn the switch "off" if the candles are not lit frequently.
Most flameless candles come with a remote controller used to turn the candles on/off. When the candles are turned off with the remote controller, it puts the candles into a "standby" mode where they continue to use some battery life from the candles; much like a cellphone when it is not in use (although they do not drain your battery as much as a phone does.)
So if the candles are not "lit" daily, switch them to an "Off" position to prolong the life of the batteries.
However in places where the candles are turned on daily (eg: in a restaurant), or when they are placed in hard to reach places (eg: on high shelves), turning the candles off daily may not be a practical solution. In such cases, there are other tips to consider instead:
2) Quality of batteries
It is estimated that the runtime of pillar candles can be double with good quality batteries. This explains the variation in run-time listed on packages, eg: "60-120 hours of burn-time".
Taking the example above, if the candles are lit for 2 hours each evening on less well-known batteries, they are likely to last for a month. However, with longer-lasting batteries, they are likely to have a run-time of 2 months. As such, an extra spend on good quality candles will remove the inconvenience of replacing batteries regularly.
3) Quality of lightbulbs in the candles
The type of lightbulbs used in the making of the candles contribute to the burn time of the candles too. On average, candles that last 70-120 hours are adequate if the candles are lit for 2-4 hours a day; as they will last more than a month on good batteries.
There are good deals available on pillar candle sets every now and then where the runtime on batteries last over 80 hours per candle (codegaa.com).
4) Number of batteries:
Many pillar candles operate on 2 or 3 AAA batteries each. Once again, if using only 1 set, whether they run on 2 or 3 batteries will not make much of a difference. However, if there are multiple sets of candles (eg: 6 or 9 candles), replacing 18-27 batteries at a time (for 6-9 candles), as opposed to replacing 12-18 of them for candles that take 2xAAA batteries each, becomes a factor to consider.
