WOD Nation Documenting The Preparation Of Amatuer Athlete Robert Thorell To Crush Games
Watch Along as Rob Goes from Amatuer to Competing CrossFit Athlete
CrossFit is an intense exercise program and was designed to meet more generalized goals of achieving overall fitness. Many CrossFit moves incorporate standard weight lifting moves, but the focus is not only on increasing weight, but also the program is structured in such a way that participants are challenged to do more repetitions in a certain amount of time. The road to the CrossFit competition is hard and extreme. It's an endurance event requiring peak fitness, dedication and commitment.
Robert Thorell (37) will be competing in a CrossFit competition called the Crush Games on August 22, 2014. He has started to videotape himself and document his progress. While exercise has always played a central role in his life, his focus has shifted over time as work, travel and lifestyle factors crept in. The journey to the Crush Games is an opportunity for him to set a challenging fitness goal and a plan of attack on how to achieve it.
WOD Nation will support Robert Thorell's journey from being a casual CrossFitter to a becoming a competing athlete and will document his journey to the big day, tracking his progress, monitoring his fitness and over time learning how his commitment to training is impacting those other parts of his life. On his Day 1 video he talks about his life before CrossFit and tells us why he has signed up , what physical and mental challenges lie ahead, his lifestyle, his fitness history and the work out he is doing.
"I've decided at the age of 37 to registered for the Crush Games. I am promoting a facebook page called - old man in CrossFit training - which is gotten mixed feedback. I am not certainly not old in the sense of the word however up until this point I am just a casual CrossFitter going two to three days per week and starting to feel aches and pain in places where I shouldn't be probably getting them. So I thought to myself why not make a little hard push and get ready for professional CrossFit competition rather than stretch on years of training and trying to masters which is my original decision. So after seeing a doctor and talking it over with my girlfriend and my coach - coach Adrian decided to go for it. So for the next 90 days im trying two to four hours per day together with coach Adrian following his training program and meeting a 100% paleo." says Robert Thorell
WOD Nation is proud to be part of Rob's crowd-funded campaign to pay for the expenses needed to get him to competition level fitness. https://www.indiegogo.com/
