Inflora Botanica Celebrates World Oceans Day
Employees of Inflora Botanica Clean Up The Beach
"Our brand ethos very much encompasses environmental stewardship, so this is a very natural thing for us to do," reports Inflora Botanica's founder. "We found a fair amount of small plastic, styrofoam, and a few plastic bags. It's really depressing," she continued.
June 8 is recognized as World Oceans Day by the UN and various participating countries. It first began in 1992. Worldoceanday.com reports that "each year an increasing number of countries and organizations have been marking June 8th as an opportunity to celebrate our world ocean and our personal connection to the sea." Inflora Botanica founder said that they were the only ones cleaning up the beach but that there were other groups in Marin County that were organizing beach clean ups and celebrations.
"Our main product- certified organic rosehip seed oil- requires a clean environment where the rose hips can grow, an organic certification requires that. It is with that spirit that we want to help clean up the beach and celebrate the ocean." She further reported "we are also developing a plastic-free packaging system for our product which is something we're really proud of because plastic really chokes the systems of the ocean. It will be a few weeks until that happens but it's in the works."
They were finished with the clean up activities at noon and plan on doing it again next year.
