Canadian Landfills Just Got a Little Bit Smaller
EcoWater Canada launches the first National Recycling Program of its kind
(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 10, 2008 ) Toronto, ON. EcoWater Canada is pleased to announce the successful completion of the first ever Pilot Program for recycling used Reverse Osmosis cartridges for purifying water. The Pilot was launched in eight regions across Canada and had excellent participation where thousands of RO cartridges avoided the landfill!
Based on the success of the pilot program, EcoWater Canada will expand the participation to all its dealers across Canada. Building on its in-store programs, EcoWater will continue to promote a National Consumer awareness program to educate consumers about the benefits of RO drinking water and the importance of the recycling program to make Canadian landfills that much smaller – less cartridges and less plastic water bottles.
Paul Godin, President of EcoWater Canada says, “Our Recycling Program appeals to consumers because they are contributing to a cleaner, greener future. Not only are they preserving the environment by using water filtration as opposed to disposable plastic bottles, but they are recycling the cartridges. We realize that for a sustainable green future, families need to take small steps toward saving the environment.”
Godin added, “We are empowering our customers to take control of their health. There are many things we can do without – water is not one of them. Our filtration systems give them the freedom to know their drinking water is consistently pure.”
According to Statistics Canada 2006, nearly one third of the Canadian population is choosing bottled water over tap water. This is a staggering statistic considering over 80 percent of disposable plastic water bottles are not recycled.
Godin adds, “Every small step we make toward a greener future makes a difference. Whether we are recycling cartridges or changing how we transport water. For example, if a family of four each took one less plastic bottle of water per day this would amount to 1,456 less bottles in the landfill in the first year!”
