Zharmae Publishing Press Imprint Luthando Coeur is thrilled about the Success of Bryen O'Riley's Novel, The Stone
The Stone is the First Volume of the Chronicles of Quat Series
About the book
Two brothers, Etan and Tad, have grown up in a small woodland village under the care of Rynne, their vigilant mother. This has been a pleasant, if somewhat rustic, place to grow up. Etan has returned after several years' training to become a scientist. He has during his time away acquired the polish and poise that a university setting can provide; Tad, by contrast, is awkward and conflicted. Still, the meeting between the brothers is joyful. The boys' mother is overwhelmed by the reunion, but soon her mood darkens. The reason is about to become apparent.
For years, the young men have speculated about their absent father. In their broad imaginings, they have concocted some highly fanciful notions while Rynne has steadfastly refused to provide any information. The boys eventually discover that, however wild these projections, their imaginings are nothing compared to the truth.
After must deliberation, Rynne decides to have mercy on her sons. She reveals that their father is a powerful Quatist, a magician of great power. Second she reveals that their father wants his sons dead! Rynne's measures of protection will not help any longer. They can no longer live in safety, and the boys' world is about to be turned upside down.
For Etan, defense against his father may lie in the professional course he has been pursuing--or so he believes. The reality, unfortunately, will be somewhat different. Tad's journey takes a more fantastic turn. Tad must, as instructed by his mother, find an object of great significance and power. Taking possession of this object will not be easy, but it will be necessary. Tad must obtain the Stone. If he is successful, he can expect some measure of protection from his father's daemonic schemes. Tad's efforts, though, will prove important not only for himself and for his friends, but for all the peoples of Quat.
About the Author
Bryen O'Riley fell in love with fantasy at the age of 14 when she read (at her older brother's insistence) the prologue of The Eye of the World and has been dreaming in fantasy worlds ever since. Her passionate opposition to science led her, quite naturally, to the Islanders' world where she was swept into the rebellion against the Quatists while falling in love with one.
When she is in this world, she lives on a hobby farm in the shadow of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains with her Scientist husband and family.
