(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 30, 2008 ) OBSNews.com- Sacramento real estate developer Moe Mohanna hosted an elaborate interfaith prayer breakfast on Friday August, 23, 2008 at his building, The Grand ballroom, to encourage dialogue between the labor community and various religious leaders representing the Christian, Islamic, and Jewish faiths.
Sacramento Labor Council Representative Bill Camp
Bill Camp, the Executive Secretary of the Sacramento Central Labor Council, at the breakfast said about the inaugural breakfast gathering, "Moe Mohanna has provided a great opportunity for the leaders of the labor community to build relationships with religious leaders of diverse faiths."
While greeting the hundreds of attendees, Mohanna praised Bishop Jaime Soto of the Sacramento Catholic Diocese for his commitment to honoring labor and working people. "Bishop Soto has always been a strong voice for working people," he said.
Bishop Soto, speaking of the interaction of religion, work, and opportunity said, "The fruit of labor should also contribute to the common wealth of all. The employment relationship in the eyes of God should always be fair and just."
Mr. Mohanna also commented, "As immigrants, we become successful by hard work. America gives opportunities not found in other places. The first years we come here we learn English, we work hard, and we become successful. Then we must give back to our community."
Mohanna Attends National Prayer Breakfast
Speaking of his inspiration for the Sacramento prayer breakfast, Mohanna mentioned his regular invitations to the nation's capitol for the National Prayer Breakfast hosted by President Bush for the past few years. "I am privileged to represent Sacramento each year that I am invited to the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. There we break bread and pray with the president, his wife, members of Congress, international religious leaders, ambassadors from more than 100 countries, and other dignitaries."
