Perspiration Causes a Slice
It makes no difference if you are a rookie amateur or a seasoned professional golfer - during your round, particularly in warm weather, your gloved hand can begin to sweat. This is particularly true in warm climates, although the problem can arise anywhere. Your lead hand gets a bit moist, and begins to slip on the glove.
What happens then is that your hand moves as it should, being a natural extension of your overall swing mechanics, but your glove slips back due to the perspiration. Since it is your glove that is in contact with the grip of your golf club, the club does not turn as sharply as it should due to this slippage. The clubface therefore strikes the ball before it has properly squared up to it.
When the clubface strikes the ball at an angle it imparts a spin to it - in this case a clockwise spin. This spin causes the ball to turn out to the right - in other words, a slice! If you are left handed, and wearing the glove on your right hand, the spin will be counter-clockwise, and will take the ball out to the left.
Good golfers can spin the ball at will to make a controlled fade or a draw shot. However, most ordinary golfers spin the ball unintentionally, leading to a hook or a slice. Mostly, this will be due to the grip slipping on the club which invariably leads to a slice - or unintentional fade if you want it to sound a bit less extreme.
Ventilation: You can prevent this type of slippage inside your glove by ensuring that your hands remain as dry as possible. The glove is fitted with double rows of ventilation holes to allow a good flow of air through the glove. As your lead hand opens and closes these vent holes expand and contract, pushing air through the glove.
Soft Cabretta Leather: What else is special about Alpha Impact Sport's Cabretta golf glove? The leather is of the very best Cabretta quality, soft and very comfortable to wear. This is important because you want the glove to feel like part of your hand, so the club is an extension of your arm.
Lycra Finger Pads: Also, in addition to this improved transfer of rotational force from your body to your club, Lycra finger pads improve the contact of your grip to the club.
Alpha Impact says: "Not only does the design of our new Cabretta leather gloves feel more comfortable on your hand, but they also help to prevent two common causes of a slice - a) your glove slipping on the club due to the force of your drive, and b) your hand becoming slippery and sliding inside the glove."
There are many more causes of a slice of course, related to your grip, swing and stance, but there are two of the lesser known causes that can be very difficult to eradicate.
The Alpha Impact soft Cabretta leather golf glove is light and comfortable to wear, and immediately gives you confidence in your grip. Your hands feel dry and you can feel the contact between your hands and the grip of your golf club.
You can feel the control you have over the club - and hence over the golf ball. You have no need to grip the club tighter, but can relax, play your shot, and send it exactly to wherever you want it to go . . . you wish! Alpha Impact leather golf gloves can help improve your golf game in many ways, but mind control is not one of them!
