The California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC), will host “Decades of Distinction…30 Years of Advocacy, Empowerment, & Education,” its 29th Annual State Convention on August 13 – 16, 2008.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 05, 2008 ) Sacramento, CA - The California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC), will host “Decades of Distinction…30 Years of Advocacy, Empowerment, & Education,” its 29th Annual State Convention on August 13 – 16, 2008.

This year’s convention will take place at the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel, San Francisco, CA.

The CHCC serves as the leading Hispanic statewide business and professional organization promoting the interests of more than 720,000 Hispanic businesses in California. The goal of the CHCC’s Annual Convention is to elevate discussion and participation among Hispanic business owners, corporate business leaders, community leaders and government officials to address issues of relevance to the Hispanic business community.

The CHCC State Convention is a premier business conference offering participants the opportunity to learn the latest trends in business development, network with outstanding business professionals, and gain insights into growing and maintaining a successful business. The CHCC’s Annual State Convention is a celebration of the business community, bringing together local, national, and international business leaders, chamber members, and affiliates to foster the growth of Hispanic businesses throughout California. Throughout the convention, participants have the opportunity to celebrate the educational, political, and economic success of the Hispanic community.

Convention participants will be exposed to some of the most dynamic, enterprising and informative speakers discussing current issues pertinent to the growth and development of Hispanic business and our community. Invited guests include; Ron Langston, National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce; Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California; Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, California Assemblymember Joe Coto, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villiaragosa.

“Every year we work to create avenues for Hispanic business owners and Chambers to grow their business and expand their reach in the marketplace,” said Joel Ayala, President & CEO of the CHCC. “As Hispanic business ownership continues to rise, it is important that we work together to have our voice heard from the boardrooms of corporate America to the halls of government. This convention serves a valuable role in making that happen.”

This year, the CHCC convention will feature business procurement/matchmaking sessions designed to bring Hispanic business owners together with corporate and state procurement officers. Unlike standard business procurement sessions, the matchmaking approach brings together businesses that can truly meet a need and increase their chances for contracting. The CHCC convention has featured the matchmaking session at previous conventions and has proven to be an extremely effective and successful tool for expanding business opportunities in the Hispanic community. “The business matchmaking sessions are extremely valuable to our corporate and government partners. It provides them a vehicle to create valuable relationships with large and small Hispanic businesses,” stated CHCC Chairman Ken Macias.

Also being featured is the CHCC’s Access to Business Capital (ABC) program. Through this innovative program, the CHCC helps companies receive private investment or equity financing beyond the traditional financial institutions. Additionally, the ABC program provides the Hispanic business owner with practical tools and training. “It is not enough to work to improve the business environment for today’s Hispanic business-owners, we must provide them with the necessary tools to succeed, and this is what the ABC program does,” stated Martha Montoya, Chairperson of the ABC Committee.

Conference participants are invited to join in and engage in the various convention activities, including:

·CHCC Annual Kick-Off Golf Tournament, which will take place on Wednesday, August 13 at the Presido Golf Club in San Francisco

·Discussion of the vital legislative and economic issues impacting our business community with key elected officials and policy makers
